WHAT DOES CHRYSALIDES MEAN ?

chry-sal-i-des

  • A pupa, especially of a moth or butterfly, enclosed in a firm case or cocoon.
  • A protected stage of development.
  • A pupa of a butterfly usually goes through four life stages before it turns into a beautiful butterfly. We, at Chrysalides, believe when a student comes to us, her/his mind is raw and we, through well-planned and scientific mentorship turn it into a beautiful and creative mind. Also, in the stages of development, the pupa is enclosed in a hard shell. When a student comes to us, she/he has a set of beliefs, what we call preconceived notions, about mathematics/ science/ language and, learning in general. We train the student to think out of the box (Lateral Thinking) so that the student approaches a given problem with more than one ways of solving it. Hesitation and under confidence also make a wall between the student and performance. These two factors also affect one’s ability to learn to speak well. We help the student break that wall. As Alfred Tennyson quoted beautifully, “ The shell must break before the bird can fly.”
